A pretty 19th century brass tripod 2-lens magnifier
A pretty Victorian brass magnifier with screw-thread focus, mounted on three turned brass legs. 1.75 inches (4.2 cms) in diameter, about 2 inches (5 cms) maximum in height when fully extended.
The central adjustable tube has a lens at each end allowing variable focus and depth of field for three dimensional objects as well as fixed focus examination of charts, maps and prints. Magnification unstated but estimated at 4X.
An unusual example of a table-top magnifier dating from the 1800s, in very nice, virtually unmarked, condition.
