An original loose leaf photograph album, 6 x 8.5 inches, containing 102 real photographs of varying sizes taken in the late 1920s during the resignalling works at Manchester detailed above. The photographs, some sepia tinted and some black and white,
have been laid down on both sides of 32 sturdy grey card detachable leaves within a 1920s brown cloth and rexine album.

A handwritten "title-page" (shown left) provides details of the subject matter and the album also contains two coloured signal and track coloured circuit plans for L.M. & S. Manchester Victoria West Cabin and Deal Street Cabin.

In very good unmarked condition, the photographs being particularly crisp and fresh. Protected in a modern handmade archival cloth slipcase, leather label titled in gilt. Overall, an outstanding collection of original photographs, possibly now unique and
unpublished elsewhere, of railway engineering works carried out at Manchester during the inter-war years.

The photographer, J. Woodforde, appears to have been a staff member of the Westinghouse company as a slip at the beginning of the album denotes the book to be his property with his address shown as being c/o Westinghouse at their Kings Cross, London,
premises.
